Bakersfield Part 1

The countdown is over.  The trip has been made!  We can’t believe that we are already back in Guatemala after our trip to Bakersfield and we feel like the time went by so quickly.  When we first got there we would tell people that we had a whole month to do things and it felt like it would last forever.  The last week we were there we thought to ourselves, where did the time go?  It was a great trip overall and it was so good for everyone to get to meet Mario and vice verse.

We arrived at LAX around 1:00AM on Sunday, April 1 and my mom and sister Becky were there to pick us up.  The trip home was not very eventful because at that hour of the night there is really nothing to see so we spent most of the time catching up.  The next day (well it was really still Sunday, but we felt like it should have been another day) we went to lunch with most of my family at Los Hermanos, one of my favorite Mexican restaurants.  Mario got introduced to everyone at once and Nathan, my nephew, even saved Mario a spot right next to him.  It was good food, something I had been wanting for a while, and even better conversation with all my family together!

After lunch we headed back to my sister Leann’s house to hang out and we ended up going on a tour of Bakersfield to show Mario the beauty it has to offer!

The first full week we were there was Spring Break so it worked out perfectly that we got to hang out with my mom extra time during the week.  Erin, Matt, and Liam were also in town and Denise, Levi, and Andrew even came down to visit.  It was so much fun hanging out with my girls Layne, Erin, and Denise and seeing Erin and Denise’s babies!   I love how each one of them is such a good mama and I also loved that Mario not only got to meet them, but he got to play with their babies too.

We also got the chance to go out with my Uncle Leroy and Aunt Lynnie and watch them train their dogs.  It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun out there with them.  We introduced Mario to the idea of bird dogs, and he even got dinner out of it! They use Chucker to train the dogs and my Uncle Leroy decided to shoot a few so that Mario could get the full experience.  They cleaned the birds right then and there and Mario took the meat home to prepare for dinner.  Mario said that Chucker breast tastes a lot like chicken!

What is a trip to Bakersfield without Sno Shack?!? We got our first one with Nathan and Elisabeth.  It was just as good as I remembered!

There is definitely waaaaay more to post and I will get it up ASAP!  Thanks for reading!
