A Little Update

Mario and I had the opportunity to share with the youth group at our church here in Guatemala City during the month of February.  We had a great time sharing what we felt was on God's heart for them and getting to know them better.  Our last teaching was on idols in our lives and how they can keep us from having intimacy with God.  It was something that I think should be repeated every now and then by all of us because idols tend to sneak into our lives, usually without us even realizing.  We took some time to ask God about the idols that we personally had in our lives and then we wrote them down and had an idol burning ceremony.  Here are some pictures.
Some of the youth getting ready to burn their idols
burn baby, burn!

We also had a great team with us for a month starting on the 20th of January.  We met the leader last year and really hit it off, so Mario and I were glad to see him again and to be able to work with such a wonderful group of people.

Mario throwing some kids around

This was actually hilarious- the kids were dog piling all of the guys in the group and Mario was trying to talk the kids out of dog piling him.  Didn't work too well (see next picture).

It looks they are going to crucify him, but it was actually just a really good dog pile!
We (I guess I should be honest and say I) are also keeping a count down until we get to go to Bakersfield.  Only 23 more sleeps as of today and we both are super excited.  I keep trying to prepare Mario for all the English by asking him questions that I think people might ask him and having him answer.  It has become our nightly game- kind of fun!  I can't wait to see how he responds to my family, friends and culture!!!  I know I already have a list of foods that I want to eat, people that I want to see, things that I want to buy, and places that I want to go!  I was just thinking that this has been my longest period of time being out of the country so far and I am ready for a little USA TLC.

You can definitely be praying for us, as well, because there are lots of things happening here with YWAM and around our base.  Pray that each staff member can find/go back to their passion and the reason they are here and that we can have the base and ministries that God desires.
Gracias!!!
