I can't believe how quickly this year is going already. The team left on the 11th of this month and the DTS at our base started on the 8th. I feel like this month has been a race and I am out of shape! It has been so good, though and God's faithfulness and grace has been so evident to me. So here is how the rest of the time with the Tyler team went...
We finished up our time here in Guatemala City with some wonderful ministries. Then we packed up and went to Puerto Barrios and Livingston. Mario and I got to go along with the team to help out and I was so glad to be able to not only spend another week with some really cool people, but to also go back to Livingston which is where we feel God has called us to have a long term ministry in the future. We arrived to a great heat in Puerto Barrios and I immediately peeled off my long jeans and switched them for some shorts and a tank top. The weather never really changed and the mosquitoes didn't relent either. The whole team, including me, got eaten alive by those little suckers. The only person who managed not to get any bites was Mario because apparently mosquitoes aren't fans of chocolate. We did a lot of church ministries in Puerto Barrios and spent most of the time building a bridge between churches and the community. Then we went to Livingston for two days where we went to a church that played 5 different drums and a turtle shell during worship time. It was amazing for me to see how the people praised the Lord and the rhythm that they have- even the littlest ones were shaking it along to the songs!
While we were in Livingston we got to visit Mario's family and I got to meet the two precious twins that his cousin has. They are ADORABLE! They are 1 year old and they really don't cry much but they couldn't quite seem to figure me out. I didn't care though, because they let me hold them and love on them as much as I wanted to! We also got to take a prayer walk through Livingston with the team. We prayed for the churches and Christians that live there, the drugs, alcohol and lust that are present, the family, the youth, the children and the team helped us finished off praying for Mario and my future plans to establish a ministry there. It was an amazing time.
Now we are back to the back and into the swing of the DTS. There are 6 students- two from the States, two from Guatemala, one from England and one from Honduras. I will be helping lead the small group for the 3 English speaking girls. I will also be there one-on-one leader, which means I will meet with them once a week to see how they are doing. Mario will be the one-on-one for the only guy in the DTS. Please be praying for us during this time that God will use us and work through us. We are also getting closer and closer to the wedding. Thank goodness I have a mom who loves planning that kind of thing because I really haven't felt too much stress in that area, but please also be praying that plans, especially with Mario's visa, will continue to come along smoothly.
Thank you again for your support. I couldn't do it without you all!!!
